Uberzone News!

Uberzone fall 2005 through spring/summer 2006 After working on his brand new full-length album for the last year, Uberzone is set to release the first single, “Satisfaction”, on promo this fall with a release to follow in the beginning of the New Year. The album, tentatively titled “Ideology”, will go into production by the end of the year or at the very beginning of next year. The timing should be perfect to coincide with a second single to be released on promo prior to the Miami Winter Music Conference. Promotional copies of the new album will be made available at the WMC for press. On the touring front, Uberzone will be performing Live and Digital mix shows around the States this fall to try out new album material. He’ll also be doing a short U.K. tour in November as a pre-curser to a much larger tour in Europe next spring. Visit www.uberzone.net or www.amonly.com for more touring information.

Good News!!!

I'm back in the studio where I belong!!!

The past couple of weeks you may have noticed the decline in Uberzone live show activity. I've been in the process of securing my ability to stay in the studio for at least the rest of the year.

I will be playing the Nocturnal Wonderland show in September and may decide to do a Digital Mix show or two towards the end of the year to test out new material. Aside from that, however, I'll be fully submersed in the writing of all new material for an album that should be ready for release next spring- March-April. I'm absolutely loaded with new ideas and excitement about these new tracks!

I'm going to try and get a page up on the site in the next month or two that I hope to use to preview some of the tracks as I work on them. I'll also use it to keep you all abreast of how things are shaping up and who I might be working with at the time.

Don't forget to check out the Y4K mix if you haven’t already! It's available now at all fine record stores near you or online at Amazon and other online retailers.

Also check out Alan Parsons’ new record (due out this month) and Afrika Bambaataa’s new album (due in October) as they both feature collaborations with yours truly! ;)

My Very Best,

!Q!

I guess you could say I've been busy!

In the past 6 months, I've moved the Institute of Gizmology 2.0 into a new location, finished tracks with Alan Parsons, Afrika Bambaataa and Rennie Pilgrem and just finished putting the finishing touches on the Y4K mix album for Distinctive!!!  I also had to do a significant amount of remodeling for the new studio, but I'm back!  I'm now working on the new Uberzone material for the forthcoming album and getting ready to embark on my first Australian tour that will take me to Perth, Sydney and Melbourne.

The Winter Music Conference this year was a whirlwind event for me, as Dave and I played live at Mythos on Friday night in North Carolina and then the Ultra Festival on Saturday and topped it off with the stunning Breaksday at Maze in Miami.  I have to say that the Breaksday party was one of the best, if not the best, pure breaks parties I've been a part of.  The crowd was jumpin, everybody seemed to have good sets, and the vibe was great.  Thanks again to TCR, Rennie, Pippa and Biff for all their hard work in putting together this excellent event.

A few more details about the tracks I've been working on:

I DJ'd at Fabric in London a couple months ago and got a chance to pop in the studio with Rennie for a couple of days.  We've finished a new track and are tentatively calling it "Fuego".  Send me an email at info@uberzone.net and tell me if you like this name.  I also just did an Uberzone remix of one of the tracks I produced for Afrika Bambaataa's record called "Soul Makossa".  It's a track that Afrika and I covered that was originally written and recorded by Manu Dibangu.  This mix is more of a club mix, while the original was more of an album track.  We also did another track called "Meet Me At The Party", which is sort of an ode to Zapp.  Finally, Alan Parsons and I had a chance to finish the track we started a while back that will be on his forthcoming album.  It's called "L'Arc En Ciel".

Thanks to all of you who have been patient while I've been away.  I'm looking forward to the Distinctive Y4K mix coming out in May/June, as well as getting my new album underway.

BTW, I'm still planning on releasing a Plastic Astronaut record sometime soon!

I'm risen from the depths of prehistoric technology!

After a long and brutal absence from the world of global communication, I've re-emerged to keep you all informed as to my comings and goings. Moving is...uh...hard, and it sucks too. My new place looks like the Institute of mess-ology at the moment but I'm confident that I can get it back in shape soon. The new studio is taking shape and new Über-material is under way. I had to postpone my trip to the U.K. as Rennie and I got a bit crushed at the last moment and I couldn't make the flights work- time wise. I will be heading over at the beginning of the year to work with him. I did, however start a track with Chris Carter during his stay in SoCal. We'll finish it up trans-atlantic-ly (broadband styley) as the A-room wasn't up and running yet. I'll give you another update in the following weeks when the studio is done to let you know what's up. Best to you...  !Q!

WE'VE LOST OUR LEASE!!

Everything must go!!  TB-303s!  Half off!  Jupiter 6!  $19.99!  Comes with free knife set!  JUST KIDDING!!  But seriously, I have moved the studio to a new location, not the moon yet, as I've had several transportation problems and wouldn't be able to bear the commute.  I'm still in the immediate area (Southern California) and will be working on the new and improved Institute Of Gizmology Version 3.0.  All my email addresses and web identities will remain the same.  I will, however, be out of contact for the next few weeks, as my DSL service won't be connected for a while.  I'll make a nice post when I'm reconnected.

As for the news:
I've just finished the second Afrika Bambaataa track and turned it in, and am finishing up with Alan Parsons.  Also, Simply Jeff and I have finished the second mix of "Science" and have turned it in for mastering.  Look for it to be released soon on "Phonomental".  I also have started a new Uberzone single for the "Equation" vinyl imprint that I'm starting.  I don't have a title for it yet, but I'm planning on releasing some of the tracks that were on the "Digital Mix" for the B-sides of the new Uberzone singles to get them out on vinyl.  I'll also be re-releasing some of the older catalogue including "Botz", "The Freaks", "Brain Dust" EP, and all will feature the originals as well as new remixes by myself and breakbeat's other finest heavyweights.  As I've said before, the "Plastic Astronaut" project is a labor of love and still trickling along.  Let's see, what else...Oh!  Hockey season starts soon, so all of the previous scheduling is subject to change.  You have to have your priorities straight.  I'll be playing quite a few live shows in the fall and I'll post those dates soon.  Check this link during the following weeks:

http://www.uberzone.net/content.cfm?action=tourDatesMain

In a couple of weeks, I'm off to merry old England to work with Mr. Rennie Pilgrem on a couple new tracks.  If our past studio exploits are any indication, this should be a great time as well as being very fruitful.  I do have some other little nice surprises coming and will announce them as soon as they're confirmed.

That's all for now...

Thanks a lot to all of you who've come out to support me this summer.  The music business is on the ropes right now, so the support I've been given is definitely appreciated.  I can't do this without you, the people who've been so gracious in the past.

All the best,
!Q!

Here I Am!!!

I didn't fall off the face of the earth; I've just flown around it a couple of times! I've been so busy touring and working in the studio this summer; I haven't had time to do much else. I'm not complaining, though, it's been great to be so busy at a time when the music industry is re-formatting. I've also played quite few DJ dates this summer, it's been a great experience and will aid me when working on new tracks. Many thanks to all of you peeps who came out in support and to all the promoters and event organizers. I do appreciate it.

Lets see, where should I start. I'm finishing up the track with Alan Parsons and turning in the final Afrika Bambaataa tracks this week so it's on to new Über-material! I'm really excited about some of the ideas I have for the new record. I've had a lot of time to think about the approach I'll be taking now that I've got the first L.P. in the bag. I'll be posting some rough mixes as teasers when I get started so be sure to check back often.

In September, I'll be jumping back over to merry old England to work on another track with the "everywhere man" Rennie Pilgrem. Rennie's been tearing it up this summer with some scorching new tracks and remixes. Stay tuned for more info on Rennie-Überzone collaborations; there are more plans on the horizon.

I'm also still working on the Plastic Astronaut stuff in my free time. This project is really a labor of love and, while not the first priority, is something that I love working on. I'll be launching a small Plastic Astronaut page as a link from the Überzone main page soon.

The Über-administrator and I have had a recent discussion and will be making some upgrades/addition to this site soon. I know it's been a little slow lately but it's really tough to stay on top of everything. More news to follow soon! Now..... WHO'S GOING TO NOCTURANL WONDERLAND!!!???

Wow, it's been a while...

Hi Everybody!!! Happy Holidays! It's been a busy last quarter for yours truly. I had a nasty case of the flu that struck me down for a while but I'm back with a vengeance!

Currently, I'm working on tracks for Afrika Bambaataa's new record as well as collaborating on a track with Alan Parsons for his forthcoming L.P.! I'm also hard at work on tracks for the new Uberzone full length; I'm looking at a spring 2003 release...so be prepared!

In addition to all of that I've been playing a few dates in support of "The Digital Mix" CD. For those of you who haven't picked it up yet, it makes a great stocking stuffer!

I'm also starting a new project using the moniker "Plastic Astronaut". It's more on the IDM, listening music, melodic, for your head not your feet, down tempo tip. It's sort of like "aural art". I should have something for release in the spring, maybe in the form of an E.P.

Well, that's all for now! I'll be posting some new dates in the "live" section of the site as soon as I confirm them, so keep your eyes peeled. Make sure you come out and see me!

Wishing everyone a very happy holiday season!

Newsflash, a message from !Q! !!!

Keeping you current:

Hello, just a brief update to tell you ‘all what’s up. I’m having a great time in the studio working on my new material as well as the new track with Simply Jeff. Next month I’ll be taking off to the U.K. to start work on my next collaboration with Rennie Pilgrem. Being in the studio is really what it’s all about for me so I’m taking advantage of my free time to blast out a ton of new material for this summer/fall. The new Uberzone single is all but finished (both sides) and I'll be sure to keep you posted as to when it’s coming out. Also, I’m still booking shows for this summer/fall so be sure to periodically check the “UBERZONE live” section to see when I’m coming your way. On top of all this, I’ve started work on the forthcoming “Digital Mix” CD due out this fall (August) on Moonshine Records; it’s going to be a dope summer.

Website news:

We’re getting ready to post an interview with Adam Freeland of Marine Parade. This is an exclusive UberNet interview done by !Q! himself. The forum section should be up later this week and the Uberzone screen savers will be available shortly. !Q! is also hard at work designing new content for the audio and video downloads page. We’re just getting rolling and the best is yet to come!

News Update from !Q!

What is this electro-funk that's drivin' ya'all crazy? Why, it's the new and improved UBERZONE website! After a very long and brutal hiatus, I'm very pleased to announce the launch of this site designed by Zeropoint Media. I apologize for the glaring lack of web contact, but vow to keep you current on the goings on of UBERZONE. This site is going to be updated on a VERY regular basis so be sure and drop in periodically to see what's new.

There are a few things that need to be worked out so your feedback would be greatly appreciated as to what you'd like to see on this site. Just drop a little note to admin@uberzone.net. In addition, a couple of the pages are a little underdeveloped so the next couple of weeks will be spent tweaking a few things here and there.

This site has a complete UBERZONE discography, news section, web-exclusive downloads, UBERZONE screensavers, exclusive interviews as well as photos, videos and more! I will also be conducting exclusive interviews with other local and international breakbeat artists and DJs. This site will also feature contests and trivia questions with prizes ranging from free merchandise to UBERZONE live show tickets. Need info on when UBERZONE is coming to you town? Check the live page for a complete list of upcoming UBERZONE shows!

Welcome to the new UBERZONE website!

Thanks for visiting,
!Q!

Other News

Brand new UBERZONE material !!!

This spring/summer will see the release of a brand spanking new UBERZONE single tentatively called "Snizl". It's a storming tribal breaks affair with a bumping B-side entitled "Trapezoid" that should rock the dance floor massive! !Q! is also hard at work with Simply Jeff on a collaboration between the two due out shortly on Jeff's Phonomental label. Then it's a hop skip and a long jump over to the U.K. where he'll embark on his next UBERZONE vs. Rennie Pilgrem tune! UBERZONE will also collaborate with Hybrid on a track later in the summer.

As if that wasn't enough! If all goes well, this fall will see the release of the first ever UBERZONE mix CD. "The Digital Mix" will exploit all of the technological aspects of digital mixing. Much like the UBERZONE Digital Mix live show, !Q! will seamlessly combine UBERZONE tunes with all the new dance floor stormers by other artists. "Rather than hide from the fact that this CD will be mixed in the computer, I embrace it as a new medium in electronic music creativity", says !Q!. "One of the most interesting aspects of modern music production is the ability to mix other peoples tracks together as if you were using samples, which is now all but impossible. By utilizing all of the tools I have in the digital domain, I can truly put a little bit of my own creative stamp on the process rather then just beat match the tracks together." More info will follow in the news section about all of these developments so stay tuned. Same bat channel, different bat time.

UBERZONE booking shows like a madman!!!

Be sure to check the live page regularly for updates on when UBERZONE is coming to your town. Dates are already booked into the middle of summer and are stacking up quickly!

UBERZONE to team up with Afrika Bambaataa again.

Afrika Bambaataa and !Q! will team up again this summer to produce tracks for the forthcoming Afrika Bamabaataa album due out on Tommy Boy. !Q! is looking forward to working with the King again and can't wait to get started.

UBERZONE and Astralwerks part ways.

After the release of Faith in the Future last fall on Astralwerks Records, UBERZONE will not continue to record for the label. It was a very amiable separation based on the desire for UBERZONE to continue on a more underground path. !Q! says, "It's always difficult to leave a business situation where you've established many fond memories and personal relationships along the way. Unfortunately, it's part of the music business and both sides need to be comfortable with the decisions about creative endeavors. I'd like to thank everyone at Astralwerks for all the hard work they put into UBERZONE."

Much more news to follow!!!!
